Kay Schützhold appointed head of Leipzig city treasury

Kay Schützhold, a long‑time municipal finance official in Leipzig, has been selected as the permanent Amtsleiter of the city's Stadtkasse. He studied public administration at the Hochschule Meißen from 2007 to 2010, earning a Diplom‑Verwaltungswirt, and has held responsible positions in the city's finance department since September 2010. Schützhold previously led the payment‑processing and accounting department and has been acting as Amtsleiter since December 2023.

The appointment followed a competitive process that attracted 29 applicants. The selection committee, chaired by First Mayor and Finance Deputy Torsten Bonew and Mayor and Administration Deputy Ulrich Hörning, also included representatives of all council factions, the personnel office and the city’s gender‑equality officer.
