Kayahan's estate faces legal battle over copyrights and mansion sale

The estate of late Turkish pop legend Kayahan is embroiled in legal and financial developments. His famous residence in Gömeç, Balıkesir, known as ‘Gönül Köşkü’, has been listed for sale at 130 million TL. Kayahan’s daughter, Beste Açar, stated the sale aligns with her father’s wishes and expressed hope that the new owner would preserve the site’s legacy.

Simultaneously, a legal battle has intensified regarding the artist's copyrights and inheritance. Beste Açar has filed criminal complaints alleging forgery and fraud against her stepmother, İpek Açar Kömürcü, and certain legal representatives. Açar claims that transfer documents filed with MESAM contain forged signatures that do not match Kayahan’s handwriting, according to criminal investigation reports. The dispute involves claims of unauthorized rights transfers and missing original documents within the MESAM archives.

In separate cultural news, various municipalities across Turkey are hosting summer festivals. These include open-air cinema screenings of classic Yeşilçam films in Keçiören and Küçükçekmece, as well as nostalgic 2000s Turkish pop concerts organized by the Selçuklu Municipality Art Academy in Konya. Additionally, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality held tribute concerts for Kayahan, featuring his daughter Beste Açar performing his classic works.
