Kaye Scott to Defend Unified Middleweight Titles vs Claressa Shields in Atlanta
Australian boxer Kaye Scott, the unified WBC and WBA middleweight champion, will defend her titles against former champion Claressa Shields on 15 August 2026. The bout is set for State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, marking Shields' return to the 160‑pound division.
Scott, 42, enters the fight with a professional record of 5‑1‑1 but leans heavily on a 120‑fight amateur career that includes silver medals at the 2016 AIBA Women’s World Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She captured the vacant WBC and WBA belts in December 2025 by defeating Olivia Curry. Speaking to World Boxing News, Scott said, “Proud, determined and excited are the first three words that come to mind.” Shields, 31, aims to reclaim the belts she previously held.
