Kayem Foods recalls over 1.5 million pounds of meat in the US
Kayem Foods Inc. has initiated a massive recall of approximately 1,584,361 pounds of meat and poultry products in the United States. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the measure following reports of potential refrigeration failures.
The investigation was triggered after a commercial customer reported on October 1 that certain food items arrived at temperatures higher than expected. The company subsequently identified temperature deviations within a cold storage unit used for ready-to-eat products.
A wide variety of products are affected, including hot dogs, bacon, bratwurst, deli meats, ham, kielbasa, cocktail sausages, turkey, mortadella, and liver pâté. Because the products are marketed under various brands, consumers are advised to check specific product codes and labels.
