Kayong Utara hosts 34th West Kalimantan provincial MTQ

The 34th Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) at the West Kalimantan provincial level concluded in Sukadana, Kayong Utara Regency, on August 8, 2026. The event received significant praise from the West Kalimantan provincial government for its organization and high level of public enthusiasm.

Sefri Kurniadi, an expert staff member to the Governor of West Kalimantan, noted that the event was one of the most well-organized in recent years, attracting over 2,500 attendees and receiving positive feedback via social media and mass media. Kayong Utara Regent Romi Wijaya emphasized that the competition serves as a medium for Islamic proselytization and a way to foster community love for the Al-Qur'an.

In conjunction with the main event, the PMII Ketapang branch organized an Al-Qur'an seminar at the Gedung Praja. The seminar featured speakers Dr. H. Harjani Hefni and Prof. Dr. Ibrahim, MA, who discussed the implementation of Qur'anic messages in daily life and the application of Qur'anic values for Generation Z in the digital era.
