Kayra Ataman killed in Etimesgut park stabbing

Sixteen‑year‑old Kayra Ataman was fatally stabbed in the chest at a park in the Şeyh Şamil neighbourhood of Etimesgut, Ankara. Police say the attack followed an altercation after Kayra and his girlfriend were verbally harassed by a drunk adult, Burak E., whose 17‑year‑old son, T.E.E., joined the dispute and delivered the fatal blows.

The incident was reported by bystanders, prompting police and ambulance crews to the scene. Kayra’s body was taken to the forensic institute for an autopsy, and his father Hanifi Ataman publicly demanded justice, describing the attackers as “monsters” and urging that they receive the full legal penalty. Both Burak E. and his son were apprehended and placed in custody while the investigation continues.
