Kayseri court releases defendant in woman stabbing case

A defendant has been released under judicial control following a stabbing incident in the Melikgazi district of Kayseri. The incident, which occurred on May 28, 2026, involved a dispute between two women, A. H. S. and E. Ç. Ç., allegedly stemming from jealousy and personal animosity.

During the hearing at the Kayseri 2nd High Criminal Court, the defendant, A. H. S., claimed the stabbing was accidental. She stated she had retrieved a fruit knife from her vehicle for self-defense after an initial physical contact and that the injury occurred while she was swinging the knife to protect herself.

Conversely, the victim, E. Ç. Ç., testified that the defendant had previously threatened her via telephone. She alleged that during the confrontation, the defendant stabbed her in the abdomen and injured her arm. Despite the prosecutor's request to maintain the defendant's detention, the court ordered her release subject to judicial control measures.
