Kayseri double murder suspect to face retrial

A defendant, M. G., will face a retrial in Kayseri following the reversal of a previous sentence for the double murder of an elderly couple. The incident occurred on October 2, 2025, in the Hacılar district, where Fahri B. and his wife, Gülhanım B., were shot with a shotgun in front of their home.

Police investigators identified the suspect after discovering horseshoe prints at the crime scene. Following 125 hours of camera footage analysis and technical surveillance, authorities determined that the 60-year-old suspect arrived at and fled the scene on horseback. The motive was identified as a long-standing dispute over an unpaid debt of 70,000 TL.

While the Kayseri 1st High Criminal Court had previously sentenced M. G. to two aggravated life sentences for premeditated murder and crimes committed to conceal evidence, the 12th Criminal Chamber overturned the decision. The defendant is scheduled to appear before a judge next week to continue the legal process.
