Kayseri Şeker develops domestic six-row sugar beet harvester
Kayseri Şeker Fabrikası has developed a domestic six-row sugar beet harvesting and collection machine. Designed by the factory's R&D unit, the project received support from TÜBİTAK under its 1707 Order-Based R&D Program in collaboration with a technology firm from Nevşehir.
Unlike the single-row machines currently common in the local market, this tractor-integrated machine can harvest six rows simultaneously. This capability is expected to provide significant savings in both time and fuel for farmers. Onur Özdemir, Chief of Technological Research at the Kayseri Şeker R&D Center, noted that while six-row machines exist, they are currently imported and carry high investment costs. The new domestic version aims to offer a much lower investment cost, approximately one-fourth of the price of imported models.
