Kayseri hosts 5th International Ashik Festival
The 5th International Ashik Festival was held at the Erciyes Culture Center in Kayseri, co-hosted by the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality and the Kayseri Governorship. The event brought together poets and musicians from across the Turkic world, including participants from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, to celebrate the traditional oral literature and musical heritage of the ashik tradition.
Kayseri Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç attended the ceremony alongside Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek and other local officials. During the event, Mayor Büyükkılıç highlighted the city's cultural significance, noting that the festival is a fitting celebration for Kayseri as it prepares to serve as the TÜRKSOY 2027 Turkic World Culture Capital.
