2026 YKS Exam Triggers Nationwide Transport, Security and Event Adjustments

Turkey is preparing for the 2026 Yükseköğretim Kurumları Sınavı (YKS), scheduled for 20‑21 June across 81 provinces and Northern Cyprus. Over 2.4 million candidates will sit the three‑session exam (TYT, AYT, YDT).

Security and logistics measures include the sealed transport of question papers in 531 GPS‑tracked vehicles from the ÖSYM printing centre, electronic time‑locked locks, and continuous police‑jandarma escort. Population centres have been instructed to keep markets closed, suspend noisy construction, and limit waste‑collection trucks on exam days. Several municipalities (Adıyaman, Bursa, Kayseri, Konya, etc.) announced free public‑transport for candidates showing exam credentials.

The Ministry of the Interior ordered the cancellation of large‑screen broadcasts of the Turkey‑Paraguay football match in İzmir and Etimesgut, citing potential noise and traffic disruption. Local officials also urged residents to avoid honking and other loud activities to preserve a quiet environment for examinees.

National figures, including the YÖK president and the interior minister, sent messages of encouragement, emphasizing that the exam is a pivotal, but not sole, measure of youth potential. These coordinated actions aim to ensure a smooth, quiet and secure testing experience for millions of Turkish students.
