Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality evaluates seed support results

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality has evaluated the results of its agricultural seed support program during the chickpea harvest in the Hasancı neighborhood of the Kocasinan district. The initiative, which cost 19 million lira, provided a total of 360 tons of seeds to local farmers through a 50 percent subsidy model.

The distribution included 200 tons of chickpea seeds, 100 tons of safflower seeds, and 60 tons of forage crop mixtures. This support was implemented in collaboration with the Kocasinan Chamber of Agriculture and the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, aiming to bring approximately 45,000 decares of agricultural land into production.

Local officials and producers reported high satisfaction with the yields. Yasin Harmancı, Head of the Rural Services Department, stated that the program aims to strengthen agricultural production, ensure sustainability in rural areas, and contribute to the national economy. The municipality intends to continue its support for rural infrastructure and livestock investments alongside these seed programs.
