Kayseri neighborhood head provides free haircuts to 5,000 students

Gonca Kaan, the mukhtar (neighborhood head) of the Yıldırım Beyazıt neighborhood in the Melikgazi district of Kayseri, has provided free haircuts to approximately 5,000 children over the past seven years.

A former hairdresser, Kaan launched the initiative to support low-income families and reduce their educational expenses before the start of the school year. The project has become a tradition, with local tradespeople also providing support by opening their businesses to facilitate the service.

In addition to hair cutting, Kaan has assisted students by providing school uniforms for 50 children and stationery supplies for 60 others to help alleviate the financial burden on families with multiple students.
