Kayseri opens Naciye-Ramazan Büyükkılıç Alzheimer Active Living Center

The Naciye-Ramazan Büyükkılıç and Daughters Alzheimer Active Living Center has officially opened in the Erenköy neighborhood of Kayseri, Turkey. The facility was established through the philanthropy of the late Ramazan Büyükkılıç.

During the opening ceremony, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and neurology specialist Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç shared an emotional moment as a speech prepared by his late brother, Ramazan Büyükkılıç, was recited using artificial intelligence. The Mayor noted that his brother had expressed interest in the center's opening while hospitalized.

Dr. Büyükkılıç used the occasion to discuss the rising prevalence of Alzheimer's, noting that the age of onset is decreasing due to digitalization. He cautioned the public, particularly younger generations, regarding excessive digital device usage and its potential impact on brain health. He emphasized that the center is designed as a social support project rather than a hospital, aiming to provide relief for caregivers and a safe environment for patients.
