Kayseri ranks among Turkey's top five for water loss management
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality has been recognized as one of the top five metropolitan water and sewerage administrations in Turkey for its success in reducing water loss and leakage. According to 2025 year-end data from the Kayseri Water and Sewerage Administration (KASKİ), the city achieved a loss-leakage rate of 25.45%.
KASKİ’s performance was highlighted in a technical article titled ‘Water Loss and Leakage Management in Drinking Water Networks in Turkey’ published in the Water and Environmental Technologies Journal. The report noted that reducing leakage is strategically vital for water security, particularly as Turkey faces water stress. Kayseri joins Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, and Denizli as one of the top five performing metropolitan administrations in this category.
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç stated that through the use of SCADA systems, acoustic listening devices, and infrastructure improvements, KASKİ prevented the loss of 2.7 million cubic meters of water in 2025. This effort contributed approximately 90 million Turkish Liras to the economy.
