Kayseri Satellite Team Wins CubeSat Competition in Azerbaijan's Karabakh

Supported by the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, a student team from Erciyes University called the Mergen Model Satellite Team completed all tasks in the II CubeSat Competition held in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. The competition required the CubeSat to separate from a carrier, transmit real‑time telemetry and video, store data onboard, and encrypt and resend a message from the ground station. The team successfully performed all of these functions, logging pressure, altitude, speed, GPS position, battery voltage and orientation data throughout the flight.

Team captain Yunus Emre Özdemir thanked Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç and municipal technology director Abdullah Avan for their backing, noting that the municipal support was crucial to achieving this international engineering success and demonstrating Kayseri's growing role in high‑technology projects.
