Kayseri to host 5th International Ashik Festival
The 5th International Ashik Festival will take place in Kayseri on Saturday, August 29, at 20:00. Originally planned for the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Millet Bahçesi, the event has been moved to the Erciyes Culture Center (EKM) due to forecasted unfavorable weather conditions.
Co-hosted by the Kayseri Governorship and the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, the festival aims to preserve the 'ashik' tradition, a vital component of Turkish folk culture. The program features a diverse lineup of domestic performers from various Turkish provinces, including Gümüşhane, Van, Ardahan, Erzurum, Antalya, Ankara, Osmaniye, Adana, Kahramanmaraş, and Konya.
International participants will also perform, representing Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. The event serves as a cultural milestone for Kayseri, which is designated as the Turkic World Capital of Culture for 2027.
