Kazakhstan advances AI strategy as studies reveal gender trust gaps
Kazakhstan is advancing a national strategy to transition from a data transit hub to a producer of technology and processed data. Deputy Prime Minister Zhaslan Madiyev highlighted the country’s existing digital infrastructure, noting that over 90% of public services are available online and 90% of transactions are cashless. The strategy, supported by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aims to integrate artificial intelligence across the economy. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is scheduled to visit Astana for a discussion regarding these digital developments.
Separately, a Harvard University study involving over 5,000 US adults has identified a significant trust gap regarding artificial intelligence. The research indicates that women report being habitually excluded from AI decision-making processes and express lower levels of trust in AI tools compared to men. The study also notes that women are disproportionately represented in roles vulnerable to automation, with more than 80% facing potential risks from tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
