Kazakhstan has held its first elections for the Kurultai, a new 145-seat unicameral parliament established following a constitutional overhaul. Preliminary results from the Central Election Commission show the pro-government Adilet party won a landslide victory with 71.17% of the vote. Other parties that cleared the 5% threshold for representation include Auyl (6.26%), Respublica (5.56%), Ak Zhol (5.21%), and the Nationwide Social Democratic Party (5.11%).

Turnout for the election was reported at 74.08%. While the TURKPA observation mission stated the elections were conducted in accordance with national legislation and international standards, monitors from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) noted a lack of political pluralism, observing that all contesting parties supported the incumbent president's policies.

The transition from a bicameral system to the single-chamber Kurultai follows a March referendum. This structural change, alongside a recent Constitutional Court ruling, allows President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to seek another seven-year term in 2029.
