Kazakhstan e-commerce market reaches $8 billion in 2025
Kazakhstan’s e-commerce market experienced significant growth in 2025, with consumer spending reaching approximately 3.77 trillion tenge (about $8 billion to $8.2 billion). This represents a roughly 50% increase compared to 2023 levels. Online sales now account for 14.3% of the country’s total retail market.
Marketplaces have emerged as the primary driver of this expansion, accounting for 86% of all online retail sales. Key platforms contributing to this trend include Kaspi.kz, Wildberries, Ozon, Halyk Market, and Forte Market. While phones and gadgets remain the largest purchase category at 17.1%, there is increasing consumer activity in clothing, household goods, appliances, and food.
The rapid expansion has necessitated improvements in logistics and infrastructure. To support the growing e-grocery segment, five dark-store projects were launched in Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, and Aktobe. Additionally, marketplaces installed 2,300 new parcel lockers to facilitate easier order collection. The growth is further supported by widespread cashless payments and advanced retail fintech.
