Kazakhstan joins Alliance for Cultural Heritage in Asia as observer
The Alliance for Cultural Heritage in Asia (ACHA) has expanded its membership, approving Egypt as a partner state and Kazakhstan as an observer. The decision was reached during the alliance’s fourth meeting held in Hangzhou, China.
With these additions, the ACHA now includes 26 members, partners, and observers. Headquartered in Beijing and operating as an intergovernmental organization since 2024, the alliance focuses on scientific conservation, archaeological expeditions, and the exchange of historical data across Asia.
During the meeting, Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Culture and Information, Aibek Sydykov, proposed initiatives including joint research into the Silk Road, specialized training for restoration experts, and the application of artificial intelligence and digital technologies to monitor the condition of historical sites. Kazakhstan holds significant interest in Silk Road heritage, including sites within the UNESCO World Heritage Chang’an-Tianshan Corridor.
