Regional economic developments in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan

Several regional economic and developmental initiatives are underway across Central and South Asia. In Azerbaijan, the Clean Energy Academy has launched a program to strengthen professional and technical potential in renewable energy and energy efficiency. Led by the Trade and Development Cooperation Center (CECECO) and Germany’s Renewables Academy AG (RENAC), the initiative aims to increase the number of specialists to support the country’s transition to clean energy.

In Kazakhstan, enterprises are set to participate in new cooperation projects within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). These include the construction of a paint and coatings plant in the Moscow Region and a new mixing line at the Samara Gypsum Plant. Additionally, Kazakhstan’s greenhouse sector has expanded, with total coverage exceeding 5 million square meters as of the second quarter of 2026, primarily focused on tomato and cucumber production.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are working to deepen economic ties. During an official visit, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed a goal to increase bilateral trade turnover with Kyrgyzstan to $200 million. Discussions focused on strengthening transit corridors and providing Kyrgyzstan with access to Pakistani ports, such as Karachi and Gwadar.
