Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and UAE sign memorandum for railway corridor through Afghanistan

Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the development of a new railway corridor linking Central Asia to Pakistan’s seaports. The proposed route would originate in Kazakhstan, pass through Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, and terminate at Pakistan’s ports on the Arabian Sea.

Under the agreement, the participating nations will conduct technical and economic studies, feasibility assessments, and analytical work regarding the necessary infrastructure and facilities. The primary goal is to enhance transport connectivity, expand trade, and create new investment opportunities between Central and South Asia.

Economic experts suggest that the project could transform Afghanistan into a significant regional transit hub, allowing the country to generate revenue through transit fees and create employment opportunities. The initiative aims to provide Central Asian nations with an alternative maritime access route via Pakistan.
