Kazi Nazrul Islam's 50th death anniversary observed
Bangladesh and India are observing the 50th death anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Various cultural and political organizations have organized programs, including discussion meetings, prayer sessions, and musical performances to honor his legacy of rebellion against injustice and his promotion of humanism and religious harmony.
On this occasion, poet and former Ambassador Mosud Bin Mannan has appealed to the governments of both Bangladesh and India to translate Nazrul’s literary works into various international languages. The goal is to promote his humanitarian message and his role in building bridges between different faiths and peoples across the subcontinent on a global scale.
Commemorative activities include floral tributes at his grave at the University of Dhaka and special programming on television channels. Nazrul, known for his diverse literary contributions spanning poetry, music, and drama, was granted Bangladeshi citizenship in 1976 and remains a central figure in Bengali literature and culture.
