Kazuki Sawamura addresses cast change in TV Tokyo drama ‘Borders’

During a press conference for the TV Tokyo drama ‘Borders: Keishicho Tokushu Jiken Taisaku-han’, lead actor Kazuki Sawamura addressed a cast change due to an injury. Actor Hidekazu Majima sustained a fracture to the left fibular head during action scene filming and will depart the series after the fourth episode.

Shunsuke Nakamura will take over Majima’s role as Ryosuke Wataya starting from episode five. Sawamura noted that he and Nakamura have a long-standing relationship dating back to their time as models and have both previously played the character Mitsuhiko Asami in different adaptations. Sawamura expressed gratitude for Nakamura’s ability to integrate into the team and lighten the atmosphere on set.

The drama, based on the novel by Shunichi Doba, follows a specialized unit called the SCU (Special Incident Countermeasures Unit) tasked with handling complex crimes that fall between traditional police jurisdictions, such as cybercrime and international drug trafficking.
