Kazuki Sawamura to star in TV Tokyo drama ‘Borders’

Actor Kazuki Sawamura will star in the new TV Tokyo drama series ‘Borders: Metropolitan Police Department Special Incident Countermeasures Unit,’ set to premiere on October 16. This marks Sawamura’s first lead role in a TV Tokyo continuous drama in approximately nine years.

Based on the bestselling suspense novel by Shunichi Doba, the story follows the Special Incident Countermeasures Unit (SCU), a special task force reporting directly to the Superintendent General. The unit is designed to handle complex, modern crimes that bypass traditional departmental boundaries, such as cybercrime-related murders and international drug trafficking.

The ensemble cast includes Mahiro Takasugi, Tina Tamashiro, Rintaro Mizusawa, and Hidekazu Mashima. The series will focus on five professionals with distinct specialized skills, with each episode highlighting different members of the team as they navigate the complexities of the police organization to solve intricate cases.
