Kazuki Sawamura to star in two major upcoming Japanese dramas

Actor Kazuki Sawamura will lead two major television dramas this October. He is set to star in the TV Tokyo series ‘Borders: Metropolitan Police Department Special Incident Countermeasures Squad’ (Borders: Keishicho Tokushu Jiken Taisaku Han), which premieres on October 16. The series follows a specialized unit, the SCU, tasked with handling complex crimes such as cybercrime and international drug trafficking that fall outside traditional police jurisdictions.

In ‘Borders’, veteran actor Tsuyoshi Naito will appear as Takumi Ogata, the Superintendent General who supports the SCU team. Naito expressed that the series explores deeper themes of justice and trust, questioning whether those who enforce the law can truly be trusted.

Simultaneously, Sawamura will star in the Fuji TV medical drama ‘Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji’ (ER 24 Hours), starting October 12. This marks a return to the long-running series for Sawamura, who will reprise his role as hospital director Masato Ochiai 27 years after his appearance in the first series. The production also features the return of actors Yosuke Eguchi and Nanako Matsushima.
