Kazulaser and Ryoji Ishii promote academic variety special

Comedian Kazulaser and freelance announcer Ryoji Ishii held a press conference for the second special broadcast of their academic variety program, ‘Kazulaser & Ryoji Ishii mo Shiranai Kami Kenkyu! Shabel Sho’ (The Shabel Award), scheduled to air on Fuji TV and Kantele.

The program features researchers whose significant findings have not yet received mainstream attention, awarding the ‘Shabel Award’ to the individual demonstrating the most passion and impact. Recent research topics presented include the benefits of using rainwater for mushroom cultivation and the anti-aging or muscle-training effects of matcha lattes.

During the briefing, Kazulaser noted the six-month gap since the first broadcast in March, while Ishii joked that the extensive research required for the show takes half a year to complete. The duo, who are alumni of Doshisha University, expressed strong professional chemistry, with Kazulaser stating he finds the partnership ‘very easy to work with.’ Kazulaser has expressed interest in expanding the show into a regular daily program.
