Kazuno City launches livestock industry trial program
Kazuno City in Akita Prefecture has launched a three-day, two-night trial program designed to attract new workers to the local livestock industry. The initiative, part of the ‘Trial Local Revitalization Cooperation Corps’ project, allows interested individuals to experience the realities of the profession and local lifestyle.
Participants visit pastures and cattle sheds to gain firsthand insight into the work. The program serves as a precursor to official recruitment efforts planned for the next fiscal year, which will focus on beef cattle breeding and fattening. The city aims to secure future successors for the industry, which includes the production of ‘Kazuno beef,’ a Japanese Short-horn Wagyu variety produced in Kazuno and Kosaka.
