Kazuto Tokuyama returns to pitching after elbow surgery

Kazuto Tokuyama, a left-handed pitcher for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, has made his competitive return after approximately one year and two months of recovery. Following Tommy John surgery on his left elbow last July, the 2024 second-round draft pick appeared in a farm league game against the Nippon Ham Fighters.

During his appearance in the sixth inning, Tokuyama pitched one inning, allowing two hits and no runs while recording two strikeouts. He reached a maximum velocity of 145 km/h. Tokuyama expressed relief at being able to focus on his pitching despite initial nerves regarding his strike zone control.
