Kazuyuki Sekiguchi’s company flagged for 586.5 million yen tax underreporting

The Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau has identified approximately 586.5 million yen in underreported income from a musical instrument sales company led by Kazuyuki Sekiguchi, a member of the band Southern All Stars.

According to reports, the company allegedly recorded losses through transactions with companies affiliated with its tax advisor to artificially reduce reported profits. The tax bureau determined these transactions lacked substance, as no actual exchange of funds occurred. Consequently, the company was ordered to pay approximately 53 million yen in additional taxes.

Sekiguchi’s legal representative stated that the company has completed the amended tax return and payment. The lawyer noted that the transactions were conducted under the guidance of the tax advisor and that there was no intention to improperly reduce the tax burden. The company has since terminated its contract with the tax advisor. The tax advisor’s legal counsel declined to comment on specific details, citing professional confidentiality and contractual obligations.
