Hyundai Mobis reports Q3 profit growth and robotics expansion
Hyundai Mobis reported a third-quarter revenue of 15.72 trillion won and an operating profit of 914.1 billion won, representing a 17.2% increase compared to the same period last year. The growth was driven by increased sales in the electrification business, particularly due to rising electric vehicle volumes in the European market, and a strong performance in the A/S parts business supported by global sales and favorable exchange rates.
Alongside its financial results, the company announced a strategic expansion into the robotics sector. Starting next month, Hyundai Mobis will produce prototype actuators for Boston Dynamics’ humanoid robot, Atlas, at its Uiwang Research Institute in Gyeonggi Province. The company plans to diversify its robotics portfolio to include hand grippers, perception modules, and controllers, aiming to expand its customer base among various humanoid robot manufacturers. To support this, Hyundai Mobis intends to double its robotics-related workforce and expects its annual R&D investment to exceed 2 trillion won for the first time this year.
