KB Financial Group launches 1‑trillion‑won digital asset and AI fund

KB Financial Group announced the creation of the KB AX Digital Asset Fund, a strategic investment vehicle with a capital base of 1 trillion South Korean won. The fund will be managed by KB Investment and is funded by the group’s subsidiaries—including KB Kookmin Bank, KB Securities, KB Insurance, KB Kookmin Card and KB Life Insurance—as limited partners.

The fund’s purpose is to make early‑stage investments in companies operating in the domestic digital‑asset market and in AI‑related technologies such as model development, application services, data inference and analytics. A KB Financial spokesperson said the fund is “a strategic investment to discover companies aligned with the group’s future strategy in digital assets and AI and turn them into new growth opportunities for KB Financial.” The initiative is intended to build a KB‑centered digital‑asset ecosystem and accelerate the group’s AI transformation.

By linking investment with business opportunities, KB Financial aims to create a virtuous cycle of investment, business collaboration and shared growth within South Korea’s emerging digital‑finance sector.
