KBC Rijeka performs first robotic-assisted gynecological surgeries

KBC Rijeka has successfully performed its first robotic-assisted gynecological surgeries, marking a significant technological advancement for the medical center and Croatian medicine. Following specialized training for the surgical team, the hospital completed five initial procedures using the new technology.

The acquisition of two robotic surgical systems cost approximately 5.11 million euros, with funding provided entirely by the Croatian state budget. This investment aims to provide more precise, minimally invasive surgical options.

The robotic system offers surgeons a high-resolution 3D view of the operating field and filters natural hand tremors, allowing for movements that exceed human capability. For patients, these advancements are expected to result in smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, less postoperative pain, and faster recovery times compared to traditional open surgery.
