KBC Split records unprecedented 6.2 per mille blood alcohol level

A man was admitted to the Psychiatry Clinic at KBC Split with an exceptionally high blood alcohol concentration of 6.2 per mille. Dr. Trpimir Glavina, head of the clinic with 35 years of experience, described the case as unprecedented, stating, "In my 35 years of work, I do not remember a patient who had a higher concentration of alcohol in their blood."

Medical experts noted that an alcohol coma typically occurs at concentrations above 4 per mille. The patient, who was not operating a vehicle at the time, was kept under observation and released once sober. Dr. Glavina noted that the hospital lacks the legal grounds to detain such individuals longer once they have recovered, and patients often request to leave immediately after sobering up.
