KBC Split under investigation over patient dress code rules

The Clinical Hospital Center (KBC) Split is facing scrutiny following reports that patients were denied entry or registration due to strict dress code enforcement. Multiple patients reported being turned away at the central reception for wearing summer attire, such as sleeveless dresses, tank tops, or shorts, despite the high temperatures.

One patient recounted being told she could not register for an appointment because of her wide-strap dress, forcing her to change into a t-shirt she had carried in her bag. Other reports suggest similar restrictions have been applied to men wearing shorts.

Croatian Ombudsman Tena Šimonović Einwalter has launched an investigation into the matter. She emphasized the need to distinguish between maintaining basic standards of conduct and disproportionately restricting access to healthcare based on clothing length or sleeve type. The Ombudsman warned that such practices could potentially jeopardize the right to health and access to medical services.
