KBL faces tactical shifts under new foreign player regulations

The KCC Professional Basketball League is experiencing tactical shifts following a rule change that allows two foreign players to compete simultaneously during the second and third quarters. This adjustment has led to increased scoring from foreign players, but has also raised concerns regarding the simplification of tactics and the potential weakening of domestic players' competitiveness.

In a recent matchup between Anyang JungKwanJang and Goyang Sono, the impact of the rule was evident as teams utilized multiple foreign players, including JungKwanJang's John Mooney. Mooney has demonstrated strong early-season performance, recording five consecutive double-doubles with averages of 23.0 points and 13.2 rebounds. JungKwanJang head coach Yu Do-hun noted that Mooney’s ability to control the paint and utilize space has significantly aided the team's offensive transitions and supported the domestic guard rotation.
