KBO Cancels and Delays Games Amid Record Heat in South Korea

South Korea's Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) announced flexible scheduling in response to a record heatwave. Starting July 1, games in regions under a heat warning can be delayed up to one hour, and matches in areas with a heat alert may be cancelled. The league cancelled the Samsung Lions‑Lotte Giants game in Busan and the KIA Tigers‑NC Dinos game in Changwon, and postponed the Samsung‑Lotte game at Sajik Stadium by 30 minutes. All stadiums except the indoor Gocheok Sky Dome are subject to the new rules, which also consider strong wind, fog, fine dust and yellow dust. The decisions were made to protect spectators and players as temperatures were forecast to exceed 38 °C for several consecutive days.
