Samsung Lions face roster crisis as Gu Ja-wook misses games

Samsung Lions face significant roster challenges as star hitter Gu Ja-wook was forced to miss recent games due to acute muscle spasms in his back. The injury occurred just before a critical matchup against the LG Twins, complicating Samsung's pursuit of the top spot in the KBO League standings.

During the matchup against LG, Samsung catcher Kang Min-ho provided a momentary boost by hitting a two-run home run against LG pitcher Anders Tolhurst, who has historically performed well against Samsung. However, the team ultimately suffered a heavy 5-13 defeat at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.

On the offensive side, LG Twins' Austin Dean continues a historic season. He recently hit his 37th home run, tying the club record for most home runs in a single season held by Roberto Ramos. Dean is also contending for the league's RBI title and remains a top contender for the home run title, trailing leader Kim Do-young by only two.
