KIA Tigers climb to third in KBO after sweeping LG Twins

The KIA Tigers have surged into third place in the KBO League standings after a decisive three-game sweep against the LG Twins during the National Foundation Day holiday. The momentum was highlighted by a dramatic 6-4 victory on October 5 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, where Kim Do-young hit a decisive three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning against LG reliever Go Woo-suk.

This victory allowed KIA to move within one game of LG and secure a stronger position in the postseason race. Despite the high-pressure situation, KIA player Kim Do-young expressed a preference for maintaining game rhythm, noting that while a higher seed is better for the team, he prefers the continuous play of the Wild Card round to avoid losing batting rhythm during rest periods.

Conversely, the LG Twins are facing a significant slump, suffering an eight-game losing streak. The team has struggled with late-game collapses, losing five games via comeback defeats, three of which occurred in the ninth inning. Additionally, LG faces potential roster challenges following an injury to Oh Ji-hwan during a game.
