KBR Park traffic: Hyderabad to implement one-way system for infrastructure project

The Hyderabad traffic police will implement a one-way traffic system around KBR Park starting August 18. This measure is part of the Telangana government’s Rs 1,090 crore H-CITI project, which involves the construction of seven multi-level steel flyovers and seven directional underpasses at six key junctions near the park.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar stated that the decision followed comprehensive studies, two rounds of trial runs, and coordination with the GHMC. The temporary restrictions are expected to last approximately 1.5 years to facilitate faster construction. Once completed, the structures are intended to provide signal-free movement at junctions including KBR Park Entrance, Road No. 45, Film Nagar, Maharaja Agrasen, and Cancer Hospital, while reducing bottlenecks at the Jubilee Hills Check Post Junction by 80 per cent.

Officials noted that the project aims to reduce travel time between the core city and the IT corridor, save fuel, and lower carbon emissions by reducing vehicle idling. While commuters may face initial inconvenience due to route changes, the police have requested public cooperation to ensure the long-term benefits of the infrastructure improvements.
