KCCI urges Karnataka government to support MSMEs and logistics in Mangaluru

The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has submitted a memorandum to Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, requesting government intervention to address industrial and infrastructure challenges in the Dakshina Kannada district.

A primary concern is the delay in acquiring 1,050 acres of land in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada for the development of a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) ecosystem at Balkunje. KCCI warned that these delays could force local industries to relocate to other regions with better support.

The Chamber also requested the repossession of approximately 400 acres of JESCO land and 50 acres of KISCO land that have remained unutilized for over 30 years, suggesting they be reallocated to MSMEs. Additionally, KCCI emphasized the need for improved logistics connectivity, better trade-related infrastructure, and upgrades to the Baikampady Industrial Area to enhance regional competitiveness and export potential.
