KDDI reports nationwide email service disruption for au and UQ mobile

KDDI has reported a nationwide disruption affecting the carrier email services of au and UQ mobile in Japan. The issue began around 6:00 AM on October 28.

As of 11:10 AM, email transmission has been restored, but users continue to experience difficulties with receiving emails and accessing the service overall. The disruption also affects the ‘au Mail Portability Service’.

KDDI attributed the cause to high processing loads on email equipment and stated that no unauthorized access or security breaches have been confirmed. While voice calls and data communications remain unaffected, the company has not yet provided a specific timeline for full service restoration. Users with prior settings may be able to access webmail via browsers, though they may experience delays in receiving messages.
