KDDI resolves 5G SA connection issues for povo 2.0

KDDI, Okinawa Cellular Telephone, and KDDI Digital Life announced on August 28 that a connection issue affected the 5G SA (Standalone) service for povo 2.0 users. The problem, which began when the service launched on August 25, was caused by a network configuration error on the provider's side. The error was corrected on the night of August 27, and users with compatible devices may need to restart their handsets to restore service.

While the technical glitch has been resolved, the companies noted that service is only guaranteed on devices officially verified by them. Additionally, a surge in applications for the 5G SA service has led to delays in the SIM card switching process, specifically regarding the electronic identity verification (eKYC) required for reissuing SIMs or eSIMs. Users are advised to allow extra time for these procedures.
