Ke Huy Quan shares behind-the-scenes stories from Temple of Doom

Actors and crew members are sharing new insights into the production of the 1984 film ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’. Ke Huy Quan, who played Short Round, has reflected on the filming experience in his book ‘Never Say Die’.

Quan revealed that director Steven Spielberg used him as a way to soothe Harrison Ford during difficult filming periods. When Ford was in a bad mood due to the demanding locations and long hours, Spielberg would call for Quan to join them, noting that Ford’s demeanor would soften in the young actor's presence.

Additionally, Quan recalled a specific moment on set where he accidentally gave Kate Capshaw a headbutt, an anecdote that highlights the high-energy and sometimes tense atmosphere of the production. Capshaw, now 72, remains a cultural reference point for fans of the franchise.
