Keşan Begins Construction of 177 Million‑Lira Government House

A foundation‑laying ceremony was held in Keşan for a new Government House complex costing about 177 million Turkish lira. The project will consolidate several public agencies—population, land registry, cadastral, real estate, and police services—under one modern complex while preserving the historic fabric of the site, which previously housed a government house and a gendarmerie command.

Keşan Kaymakam Aziz Mercan and Mayor Op. Dr. Mehmet Özcan attended the ceremony. Mercan explained that the development proceeds in two phases: the first phase already delivered a new district police headquarters, and the second phase will construct the main 600‑square‑metre building and a smaller 250‑square‑metre office for the district governorate. Completion and opening are targeted for May 2027, with limited on‑site parking and additional surface parking to be arranged with the municipality.
