Keşan officials implement new school security protocols
Authorities in the Keşan district of Edirne held a comprehensive meeting to discuss school security and student protection measures ahead of the 2026/2027 academic year. The meeting included local officials, law enforcement, school principals, and community leaders.
Keşan District Governor Aziz Mercan announced that camera systems in schools have been updated and a security protocol has been signed between the police and gendarmerie. To prevent violence, District Director of National Education Sercan Kemik introduced a three-stage action plan:
1. Monitoring: Identifying low-intensity issues such as social withdrawal or anger outbursts through school guidance services. 2. Referral: Transferring higher-risk cases to Guidance and Research Centers. 3. Emergency Intervention: Reporting concrete threats or preparations for violence to law enforcement immediately.
The meeting also addressed strategies to combat student absenteeism through cooperation between local police, gendarmerie, and social services.
