Turkish municipalities advance environmental and community initiatives
Several Turkish municipalities are advancing local community and environmental initiatives. In Kayseri, the 1.26 million square meter Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Millet Bahçesi has received the international Green Flag Award. The award, presented during the Landscape Istanbul Fair 2026, recognizes the park for its high standards in environmental quality, sustainability, and management.
In Bursa, the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, in collaboration with the Turkish Scouting Federation, has opened a new Scout House at the Atatürk City Forest. The facility aims to support youth development through nature-based activities, with local officials noting a significant increase in the budget allocated for youth services.
In Eskişehir, following a recent incident where a group was asked to leave Dede Korkut Park, the Anne Bebek Hareket Kulübü (Mother-Baby Movement Club) held a large gathering at Kentpark. Approximately 125 families participated in the event. Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce attended, emphasizing that all municipal parks and indoor facilities remain open to families and children to encourage outdoor activity.
Additionally, Kayseri is hosting its 4th Gastronomy Days from October 22-25, 2026. The event focuses on preserving traditional culinary culture through workshops and competitions for homemakers and children, including a specialized competition for making Kayseri mantı.
