Keanu Reeves Highlights Chicano Hollywood Film Festival in Pomona
The Chicano Hollywood Film Festival returned to Pomona, California, for its second edition, running July 29 – August 2 at The Union on Garey. The five‑day event showcased more than 140 films, a range of industry panels, and special guests including Keanu Reeves, Danny De La Paz and Emilio Rivera.
Reeves served as executive producer of the documentary “Madwoman’s Game,” which follows filmmaker and chess player Bianca Mitchell‑Avila’s six‑year journey to capture her competitive chess experience. At the festival, Mitchell met Reeves for the first time and the two celebrated with a game of chess. Festival founder Johnny Murillo said the expanded program aims to champion Latino creators and provide broader exposure for their stories. Sponsors such as Procter & Gamble, Warner Bros., Lionsgate and the City of Pomona supported the event, which also featured panels on branded micro‑entertainment and cultural showcases.
