Keanu Reeves in talks for James Wan’s ‘The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil’ remake

Keanu Reeves is in negotiations to star in an English-language remake of the 2019 South Korean action-thriller ‘The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil’. The project, being developed by Paramount Pictures, will be directed by James Wan, marking his first feature film since ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’.

Don Lee (also known as Ma Dong-seok) is set to reprise his role as the crime boss Jang Dong-su from the original film. The story follows an unlikely alliance between a gangster and a police detective as they work together to hunt down a dangerous serial killer. The original film, directed by Lee Won-tae, was inspired by real-life South Korean criminal cases from the mid-2000s.

The production features a large team of producers, including Sylvester Stallone via Balboa Productions, Jason Blum via Blumhouse Atomic Monster, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The screenplay was recently written by Eric Pearson, building on earlier drafts by Shay Hatten and Brian Helgeland.
